Cannabis May Provide Treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma

A new study published in the journal PLoS One as well as the National Institute of Health has found thatcannabuddy cannabis may serve as a treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a cancer of lymph tissue (found in the spleen, liver, bone marrow and other areas).

For the study, researchers at Goethe-UniversityLeipzig University and Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg “examined the distribution of CB1  [cannabinoid receptor 1] protein in primary cases of HL (Hodgkin lymphoma). Using lymphoma derived cell lines, the role of CB1 signaling on cell survival was investigated.”

After conducting the study, researchers concluded that; “The present study identifies CB1 as a feature of HL, which might serve as a potential selective target in the treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma.”

Given that cannabis serves as a direct and natural agonist to our body’s cannabinoid receptors, cannabis may provide an ideal treatment for the cancer, which is responsible for hundreds of deaths each year according to the American Cancer Society.

    I am a doctor, a hodgkin´s survivor and a former marihuana smoker.

The study reveals that the INHIBITION of these CB1 receptor in these in vitro cells could reduce their survival rate.
So, it actually indicates the probability of just the opposite of what you are stating, since THC activates such receptors.

Please, check the facts with a profesional before pusblishing these type of things.

      Hi Alex,

I was diagnosed last Thursday with hodgkin lymfona. Spread in my neck and spleen.
Since you are a survivor I would like to hear what you did. My doctor says the only option is chemo. Which of course is very heavy.

        Hey Alex,

I’m sure you already started chemo, hopefully you’re already done, if not, have them put you on Brentuxumab. For first line therapy I think it’s only offered on clinical trials. It is FDA approved for 3rd line therapy, so don’t worry too much about feeling like a guinea pig. It’s a monoclonal antibody so it targets your mutated CD30 cells. I had no side effects when I was on it.

For anyone else reading this for info, look into Immunotherapy. A PD1 inhibitor is what’s working for me, nothing else did.

        Best of Luck!
