Ohio Committee Passes Measure to Legalize Medical Cannabis

ohioOhio’s Select Committee on Medical Marijuana has given approval to House Bill 523, a proposal to legalize medical cannabis. The bill now moves towards a vote in the full House of Representatives.

Under the proposed law, the possession, use and retail distribution of cannabis and cannabis products would be legal for those who receive a recommendation from a physician. Unfortunately and oddly smoking cannabis would be prohibited, though vaporizing would be allowed, as would consumption through edibles, tinctures and other methods such as topicals.

“We listened to those who need medical marijuana,” says State Representative Kirk Schuring (R-Canton), chairman of the committee. “I think we will have bipartisan support for it in the House and it will win the day and move to the Senate.”

Gov. going to pay for the vaporizer? Then it is fine; otherwise not so much.

Smoking cannabis will not be permitted, but feel free to pick up your synthetic heroin at your local legal drug dealer.
