Hemp Legislation Passed by Alabama House and Senate

By Associated Press

hempfieldAlabama is one step closer to researching industrial hemp production.

The Alabama House of Representatives and Senate on Tuesday both passed bills  to allow the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries to research industrial hemp production and its possibilities as a cash crop.

The legislation, sponsored by Republican Rep. Ken Johnson and Sen. Paul Bussman, would allow universities to apply for growth permits and exclude industrial hemp from controlled substances laws.

Hemp is a form of cannabis that contains negligible amounts of THC, the psychoactive chemical found in marijuana. Hemp can be used in a variety of products, including textiles and food.

At least 28 other states have industrial hemp laws on the books.

Either Bussman’s or Johnson’s bill would have to pass the other chamber to be sent to the governor for his signature to become law.

I have a medical problem. I was in a car accident on 12/22/85. I broke the windshield with my forehead, which gave me 72 stitches between my eyebrows. This gave me a traumatic Brain Injury. I was very poor because I was divorced and taking care of my 2 children without any help, except from my parents. I no longer had a job, with no income or insurance because I was in the hospital for 9 weeks. I couldn’t continue with medical care. Friends gave me cannabis and it helped. I’ve had it from time to time, but it is illegal. I have as a result problems that doctors have said now are: Anxiety, depression, bipolar along with 2 crushed disc’ in my spine, a tacked bladder, a plate and pins in my leg with pain to walk. I had an incident with my Leg Doctor, he did not keep his confidentiality. I applied for disability but do not qualify because I do not have enough Credits paid in. If I leave my husband and live no with someone then I will qualify. Why can’t I live with my husband?
There is so much more to say if someone even cares.
    Lisa
